krama-anyatvaṁ pariṇāma-anyatve hetuḥ
Different steps result in distinct changes
Patañjali tells us that every change is the result or effect of a previous cause or sequence of causes; interconnected but always flowing in a sequential order. Put another way: change does not happen by chance but follows a kind of logic. Every step of your life leads you to a next one.
